Mormons believe in the Holy Bible and revere it as the word of God. In English-speaking countries, Latter-day Saints use the King James version of the Bible. Mormons study it, teach from it, and look to it for guidance and inspiration. Written by prophets of God, it is a sacred record testifying of Jesus Christ.
Because it teaches us so much about Jesus Christ, the Bible stands as a treasured religious text, with history, doctrine, stories, sermons and testimonies found nowhere else.
The Bible and Book of Mormon Testify of Jesus Christ
Where the Bible shares God’s teachings in what is often called the Old World, or the Near East, the “Book of Mormon” shares parallel teachings in the New World or ancient Americas. Together, the Bible and Book of Mormon jointly witness of God’s love for His children and the saving power of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.

Yes, we believe the Bible to be the word of God. The problem is that it has been translated and edited so many times that some doctrine has been lost. We believe that the Book of Mormon fills in any of those gaps and that between the two we have the fullness of God's gospel.

Yes as in the Intro page to the Book of Mormon, we use it as a companion to the Bible. The bible contains a lot of stories of ancient prophets that were on the earth before Christ was and while he was on the earth and shortly after.
The Book of Mormon has prophets living right before Christ to hundreds of years after his death.

One cannot accept the Book of Mormon as scripture and not also accept the Bible as scripture. The Book of Mormon testifies of the Bible. The Church wants the members to us both so much that our current editions all have an extensive foot note system that includes cross references to passages that discuss similar things.

As a convert I was concerned that the bible was replaced by the Book of Mormon. How far from the truth that concern was, as the Bible is the LDS primary teaching tool and the Book of Mormon is simply another testament of Jesus Christ and serves to verify the truths found in the Bible.

We believe that the Book of Mormon is another Witness of Jesus Christ. It contains the writings of an ancient people and ancient prophets who lived in the Ancient Americas. The Book of Mormon starts out with a prophet called Lehi, who lived in Jerusalem around 600B.C. being commanded to leave Jerusalem with a group of people, and lead them to the American Continent. The Book of Mormon is a collection of the writings of many of the Prophets who lived in the ancient Americas.
