Yes, we believe the Bible to be the word of God. The problem is that it has been translated and edited so many times that some doctrine has been lost. We believe that the Book of Mormon fills in any of those gaps and that between the two we have the fullness of God's gospel.

Yes as in the Intro page to the Book of Mormon, we use it as a companion to the Bible. The bible contains a lot of stories of ancient prophets that were on the earth before Christ was and while he was on the earth and shortly after.
